Kenyan politician Moses Kuria has stepped down as President William Ruto’s senior economic advisor, ending a 10-month stint in the role. Kuria said he met Ruto on 8 July and that the president "graciously accepted" his resignation, which he attributed to a desire to pursue unspecified personal interests. Kuria, 53, has held several high-profile positions in the Ruto administration. He served 11 months as Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, followed by nine months as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Delivery and Performance Management, before moving to State House as a senior economic advisor last September. In a statement, Kuria highlighted his contribution to shaping the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, a cornerstone of Ruto’s 2022 election platform. The presidency has not announced a successor.
