Sony Interactive Entertainment has filed a lawsuit against Chinese technology conglomerate Tencent in a California federal court, accusing Tencent of copyright and trademark infringement. The lawsuit centers on Tencent's upcoming game, Light of Motiram, which Sony alleges is a "slavish clone" of its popular Horizon video game series, particularly Horizon Zero Dawn. Sony claims that Light of Motiram features nearly identical gameplay, story themes, artistic elements, and other similarities to the Horizon franchise. The legal action follows widespread recognition in the gaming community that Tencent's game closely replicates the Horizon series. Tencent had previously pitched a Horizon game set in Asia to Sony, but the current dispute concerns the unauthorized replication of the Horizon series' intellectual property in Light of Motiram.
