Sutter Health has agreed to pay approximately $228.5 million to settle a federal class-action lawsuit accusing the healthcare provider of anticompetitive practices that allegedly allowed it to abuse market power and inflate prices for insurers, employers, and individuals. Separately, Align Technology, the maker of Invisalign, has agreed to a $31 million settlement in a consumer price-fixing case. In another healthcare-related incident, Blue Shield of California disclosed that it mistakenly transferred sensitive health data of 4.7 million patients to Google over nearly three years without notifying affected parties. The data included names, medical claims, family information, and doctor searches. Additionally, South Korea's data protection authority reported that Chinese AI startup DeepSeek transferred user data to multiple companies in China and the United States without user consent. DeepSeek has since established a Korean-language privacy policy, but the resumption of its services remains uncertain.
