Jalisco authorities arrested Kevin “N” on 21 July for the shooting death of 28-year-old Karla Bañuelos in Guadalajara, Governor Pablo Lemus announced. State police took the suspect into custody nine days after the crime, which has been investigated under Mexico’s feminicidio protocol. Bañuelos was killed in the early hours of 12 July outside her home in the Balcones de Oblatos neighborhood. Security-camera footage shows a man retrieving an AR-15 rifle from a white 2010 Chevrolet Equinox and firing three shots—two warning rounds and one fatal shot to the head—before fleeing. The victim, mother to a 12-year-old girl, died at the scene. Investigators located the getaway vehicle on 14 July in the Hacienda de Santa Fe area of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, aiding efforts to track the suspect. Officials said further details on the arrest and pending charges will be provided by the state Security Ministry and the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office.
