Two Mexican brothers, Carlos and Alejandro, who were detained at the Everglades migrant detention center in Florida, known as "Alligator Alcatraz," have been released and returned to Mexico, according to the Mexican Foreign Ministry. Separately, Banxico reported that remittance inflows to Mexican families totaled $5.201 billion in June 2025, marking a 16.2% decline compared to the same month in 2024, the largest year-over-year drop on record for June. This decrease coincides with intensified anti-immigrant operations in the United States. Additionally, a hunger strike has been reported at the Alligator Alcatraz detention center, with detainee Pedro Hernández hospitalized but continuing to refuse food, demanding dignified treatment. Meanwhile, the Mexican Consul General in Los Angeles noted an approximate 80% reduction in migrant arrests in that city over recent weeks.
