The Mexican government has advanced the federal music contest "México Canta," aimed at promoting youth creativity and traditional music without glorifying crime. After evaluating 15,115 submissions, 365 participants, mostly aged 24 to 29, have progressed to the second phase. This binational contest includes both Mexican and Mexican-American contestants, with 320 from Mexico and the remainder from the United States. The jury comprises notable industry figures such as Regina Orozco, América Sierra, Mario Domm, Vivir Quintana, Fernando Rivera Calderón, Camila Hernández, and A.B. Quintanilla. In the third phase, 48 semifinalists will be selected regionally. The contest emphasizes "corridos sin violencia" (corridos without violence) and aims to foster positive content that counters addiction and promotes peace. A dedicated microsite has been launched to announce the classified participants. From August 17, the semifinalists will be showcased every Sunday at 8 PM on public media channels.
