Mexican state prosecutors have transferred businessman Alejandro “N”, better known as “Lord Pádel”, to the Penal de Barrientos in Tlalnepantla, along with his bodyguard Othón “N”, his wife Karla Alejandra “N” and his son Germán “N”. The four are under investigation for the alleged crime of attempted aggravated homicide stemming from a 19 July shooting at a paddle-tennis club in the municipality of Atizapán de Zaragoza, State of Mexico. Agents from the Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México carried out the transfer in the early hours of Sunday with backing from the Navy and Atizapán municipal police. The suspects had been arrested on Saturday at Cancún International Airport in a joint operation that also involved Interpol México, the federal Security Ministry, the National Anti-Kidnapping Commission and the federal Attorney-General’s Office. A judge inside the Tlalnepantla facility will determine the legal status of the four detainees in the coming days. Under Mexican law they remain presumed innocent until a court issues a conviction.
