Mexico opened its medal account at the II Juegos Panamericanos Junior in Asunción with a bronze in men’s double sculls, where rowers Roberto Ahumada and José Ignacio Navarro reached the podium on 10 August. Two days later swimmer Humberto Nájera delivered the delegation’s first gold. The 20-year-old from Chihuahua won the 200-metre backstroke in 1:57.44, setting a Games record and securing qualification for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games. María Fernanda Méndez added bronze in the women’s 100-metre butterfly with a 1:00.73 effort. Mexico’s archers also excelled. Adriana Castillo and Máximo Méndez captured gold in the compound mixed-team event, defeating the United States pair 153–140. Both archers later claimed individual silver medals, extending the team’s haul in Paraguay. By the close of 12 August, Mexico had collected two gold, six silver and six bronze medals, placing sixth in the overall standings behind leader Brazil.
