The Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE) of Mexico has completed the delivery of majority certificates to the winners of the recent judicial elections, which selected 438 magistrates for Circuit Courts and 363 judges for District Courts, adhering to gender parity principles. Among the elected officials is Delia Quiroa, a searcher of missing persons, who received her certificate as a district judge for Sinaloa. However, the electoral process faced scrutiny as the INE identified irregularities, including 24 individuals who did not meet the required academic average and one judge currently detained. Eluzai Rafael Aguilar, elected as a criminal judge in Jalisco, denied alleged ties to Naasón Joaquín, a convicted leader of the La Luz del Mundo church. Experts and the Observatorio Ibero del Sistema de Justicia have expressed concerns about new "threads of control" emerging within Mexico's judicial system following these elections, warning that the reforms are making the judicial system more vulnerable. The recently established Tribunal de Disciplina Judicial exemplifies this reconfiguration of judicial oversight. Despite these issues, the INE's president described the certificate delivery as an act of democratic affirmation.
