Mexican cyclist Isaac del Toro, aged 21, has made a remarkable return to competition following his runner-up finish at the Giro d'Italia. At the 2025 Tour of Austria, del Toro finished fifth in the first stage, demonstrating strong form and team support from UAE Team Emirates. He then secured consecutive victories in the second, third, and fourth stages, with the second stage covering 142.1 kilometers from Bischofshofen to St. Johann in Salzburg, completed in 3 hours, 4 minutes, and 59 seconds. These wins propelled him up the general classification, moving to second place after stage three and ultimately taking the overall lead following his third consecutive stage win in stage four. Del Toro maintained his advantage through the fifth and final stage, which was 144.2 kilometers long, to claim the overall title. This victory marks the first time a Mexican cyclist has won the Tour of Austria. Del Toro's performance included leadership in the points and young rider classifications. After this achievement, he is set to compete in the second edition of the Clàssica de les Terres de l’Ebre in Catalonia, further establishing himself as a prominent figure in international cycling.
