Isaac del Toro, the 21-year-old Mexican cyclist and 2025 Giro d'Italia runner-up, has made a remarkable return to competitive cycling by dominating the 2025 Tour of Austria. Riding for UAE Team Emirates, del Toro finished fifth in the first stage of the race, demonstrating strong team support and strategic pacing over the challenging 167-kilometer alpine route. He then secured consecutive victories in the second, third, and fourth stages, including a sprint win over American Andrew August in stage two and a solo mountain stage victory under intense rain in stage three. These performances elevated him to second place and then to the overall leader of the race. Del Toro ultimately claimed the Tour of Austria title after the fifth and final stage of 144.2 kilometers, becoming the first Mexican to win this competition. Throughout the race, he also led the points and young rider classifications, consolidating his status as a rising star in international professional cycling. His contract with UAE Team Emirates extends through 2029, and he is set to compete next in the Clàssica de les Terres de l’Ebre. Del Toro's achievements have drawn widespread acclaim in Mexico and abroad, highlighting his resilience and talent following a serious fall earlier in his career.
