Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has reiterated the core principles of the "Cuarta Transformación" (Fourth Transformation), emphasizing that government officials should live modestly and that public resources must not be diverted for personal gain. Sheinbaum highlighted the importance of exercising power with humility, referencing the austerity ideals inspired by Benito Juárez and promoted by former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Addressing recent photos of Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, Morena's secretary, vacationing in Tokyo, Sheinbaum stated that public servants must behave appropriately and that luxurious lifestyles conflict with the movement's values. She also underscored the government's mission to reduce poverty and inequality, noting a substantial decrease in income disparity in Mexico—from a 35-fold to a 14-fold difference between the richest and poorest households, according to the latest INEGI survey. Social and labor policies have contributed to income growth among lower-income households without compromising macroeconomic stability. Sheinbaum reaffirmed that the power held by public officials should be exercised with humility and proximity to the people, rejecting opulence and luxury as inconsistent with the goals of the Cuarta Transformación.
