Pumas UNAM has completed the signing of Colombian left-back Álvaro Angulo from Independiente de Avellaneda, the Mexican club announced late Tuesday. Angulo, 28, joins on a four-year deal after the sides agreed a package worth roughly US$1.5 million and the transfer of the federal rights to Argentine winger Ignacio Pussetto. The defender becomes Pumas’ second confirmed reinforcement for the Apertura 2025 campaign, following the earlier arrival of midfielder Aaron Ramsey. Head coach Efraín Juárez, who worked with Angulo at Atlético Nacional, requested the move to strengthen the left flank after Robert Ergas’ departure. Angulo arrived in Mexico City on 12 July for medical tests and is expected to debut as soon as the club’s home match against Pachuca in Liga MX match-day two this weekend. Pumas, which has not lifted a league title since 2011, is still pursuing additional signings, including forward Pedro Vite and goalkeeper Keylor Navas, as it seeks to return to contention.
