Bahram Mohammad Estowari, a 66-year-old Iranian national and U.S. permanent resident, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for allegedly exporting sophisticated electronics from the United States to Iran, in violation of U.S. sanctions. The U.S. Department of Justice announced the arrest and stated that Estowari, who is the CEO of an engineering company based in Tehran, is accused of illegally exporting sensitive electronic equipment over a period of seven years, from 2018 to 2025. If convicted, he faces up to 80 years in prison.
