Iran has condemned the United States government for the mass detention of Iranian nationals residing in the US, describing the actions as unlawful and inhumane. Alireza Hashemi Rajaei, Director General of the Secretariat of the High Council for Iranian Expatriates at Iran's Foreign Ministry, issued a strong denunciation of the US government's arbitrary arrests. Separately, Iranian authorities have released student activist Motahareh Gune'i on bail of two billion tomans after her detention following Israeli attacks on Iran. Meanwhile, the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported that Iranian security forces have detained an Afghan student conducting field research near Iran's eastern border, holding her for over a week without contact with her family or legal counsel. Iran has also accused the US of systematic racism in its treatment of Iranian nationals.
