The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced the killing of Jihad Kamal Salem Najjar, a Hamas militant involved in the October 7 abduction of Israeli hostage Yarden Bibas. Israeli military operations continue targeting individuals linked to the hostage-taking incident. Meanwhile, a major attack occurred in Khan Younis, Gaza, where approximately 14 to 17 Palestinian fighters emerged from a tunnel and launched an assault on an IDF position. The IDF reported killing nine militants and injuring three Israeli soldiers, one seriously. Additional violence included an explosion at an IDF site on Mount Hermon caused by an old Syrian bomb, injuring seven Israeli soldiers, four seriously. Israeli forces also released footage showing a Merkava tank running over a Hamas militant armed with an RPG during the Khan Younis attack. In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes have caused extensive destruction, including the leveling of a displacement camp in Deir al-Balah, which housed around 200 families, leaving thousands homeless. Rescue teams pulled a 23-year-old Palestinian woman, Saja Hamad, from the rubble in the Nuseirat refugee camp after she was nearly buried alive. The ongoing bombardment has forced many Palestinians to live without shelter, with reports of displaced individuals sleeping in the streets. The conflict continues to cause civilian casualties and widespread displacement amid persistent Israeli military operations in southern Gaza and southern Syria.
