The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has officially declared a state of famine in Gaza, underscoring the severity of food shortages and rising malnutrition across the enclave. The designation follows months of restricted aid deliveries amid the continuing conflict between Israel and Hamas. In response to the announcement, U.S. actor and humanitarian advocate Mark Ruffalo called for coordinated international intervention and urged President Donald Trump to press Israel to lift barriers on humanitarian assistance. Ruffalo characterised the situation as a “man-made” crisis and accused Israeli forces of blocking the flow of life-saving supplies.
