Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian embarked on a two-day official visit to Armenia, where he held high-level talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and other officials. The discussions focused on regional security concerns, particularly opposition to the US-backed corridor connecting Azerbaijan with its exclave Nakhchivan, which Tehran fears could facilitate a US military presence near its borders. During the visit, Iran and Armenia signed ten cooperation agreements spanning technology, engineering, construction, mining, art, tourism, diplomacy, economy, infrastructure, environment, and healthcare. Both countries pledged to deepen strategic ties, including plans to build a second border bridge at Norduz over the Araks River. President Pezeshkian emphasized Iran's support for peaceful negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and its stance against any changes to international borders in the Caucasus. Following the Armenia visit, Pezeshkian traveled to Belarus, where he met with President Alexander Lukashenko. The two leaders condemned Western sanctions as "economic terrorism" and committed to intensifying bilateral cooperation across all sectors, including military-technical collaboration. Lukashenko expressed readiness to expand cooperation with Iran in the military sphere, highlighting shared positions within international platforms such as Eurasia, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The visits underscore Iran's efforts to strengthen regional alliances amid geopolitical shifts and Western sanctions.
