Israel’s military and domestic intelligence service said they killed Hamas operative Jihad Kamal Salem Najjar in an airstrike carried out on Aug. 10 in the Khan Yunis area of the southern Gaza Strip. The Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Security Agency announced the operation on Tuesday. According to the agencies, Najjar belonged to Hamas’s military wing and took part in the Oct. 7, 2023 assault on Kibbutz Nir Oz, where he helped abduct Israeli civilian Yarden Bibas. Israeli authorities said the strike was part of an ongoing campaign to target individuals directly involved in the cross-border attack that triggered last year’s Gaza war. Palestinian reports said the strike hit a tent, killing Najjar and his brother. Israeli officials did not comment on further casualties. Hamas has not immediately responded to the announcement.
According to Palestinian reports, Khaled al-Najjar, who was involved in kidnapping Yarden Bibas on October 7, was killed alongside his brother a little over a week ago. The strike targeted their tent in the Khan Yunis area. It appears Jihad was also a lawyer. https://t.co/Bog0Y3MMzM
