Israeli Minister’s Jordan River Claims Condemned by Jordan, Palestine; UAE Denounces Settlements and Gaza Operations; Syria Reports Incursions, Civilian Deaths
The Israeli Minister of Communications sparked condemnation from Jordan and Palestine after claiming that both banks of the Jordan River are part of the so-called "Land of Israel." Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly rejected the statement, emphasizing its support for Palestinian rights, while the Palestinian Foreign Ministry labeled the remarks as racist, a violation of Jordan's sovereignty, and a breach of international law. The United Arab Emirates also condemned Israel's new settlement plans in the occupied West Bank and its ongoing military operations in Gaza, describing these actions as serious violations of international law and obstacles to peace and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Meanwhile, Syria has condemned multiple Israeli military incursions into its southern regions near Quneitra and Damascus, including the infiltration of towns such as Bareeqa and Bir Ajam by Israeli forces using armored vehicles and soldiers. Syrian authorities reported the killing of a civilian in Quneitra following an Israeli incursion and denounced continued illegal Israeli presence on the summit of Mount Hermon and the demilitarized zone. Additionally, an explosion near Al-Kiswah in the Damascus countryside resulted in the deaths of two Syrian soldiers and injuries to six others, with suspicions pointing to either an Israeli drone strike or unexploded ordnance. Syria's Foreign Ministry has called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to intervene and halt these violations, while Jordan has condemned the ongoing Israeli violations and the killing of a Syrian citizen. Saudi Arabia also expressed strong condemnation of Israel's continued violations and incursions into Syrian territory.
