The White House said President Donald Trump opposes moves by France, Canada and the United Kingdom to grant diplomatic recognition to a Palestinian state. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that Trump “disagrees” with the leaders of the three allies on the issue, underscoring a split between Washington and several of its closest partners over Middle East policy. Trump’s stance follows recent signals from French President Emmanuel Macron that Paris is prepared to formally recognise Palestinian statehood. Canada and the UK have also indicated they are considering a similar step as part of wider efforts to revive a two-state solution. The administration’s position suggests any coordinated Western approach toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will face further hurdles.
