Israel’s Israel Hayom newspaper reports that U.S. officials have presented a new proposal aimed at securing a long-term ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The plan emerged after talks in Egypt earlier this week that brought together a Hamas delegation and international mediators. According to the paper, Hamas has indicated readiness to accept the main provisions of what the report describes as the Witkoff plan and is willing to address several demands related to Israeli hostages. An Arab source cited by the newspaper added that the group has not ruled out broader discussions on formally ending the war during any ceasefire period.
