A joint statement by NZ and 27 other countries opens a door for further action against Israel over Gaza. What domestic and international steps could be taken? @AucklandUni https://t.co/FtMcpS2MKJ
A coalition of 28 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Japan, Australia, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, has issued a joint statement calling for an immediate end to the war in Gaza. The group condemned the Israeli government's slow and irregular distribution of humanitarian aid, which they say has contributed to the deaths of hundreds of Palestinian civilians, including children, near aid distribution points. The coalition also strongly opposed any demographic changes in the occupied Palestinian territories. The Israeli Foreign Ministry responded by dismissing the statement as disconnected from reality and accused it of sending the wrong message to Hamas. The countries emphasized the urgent need to lift restrictions on aid flow into Gaza to alleviate the worsening humanitarian crisis.
