U.S. Central Command said on 16 July that its Yemeni partners, the National Resistance Forces led by Gen. Tareq Saleh, intercepted more than 750 tons of Iranian-supplied weapons en route to Yemen’s Houthi movement. CENTCOM described the capture as the largest haul of advanced conventional arms ever seized by the NRF. The cache included hundreds of cruise, anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles, warheads and seekers, as well as drone engines, radar and air-defence equipment, and communications systems. Manuals found with the shipment were written in Farsi, and many components were manufactured by an Iranian defence-ministry-linked company under U.S. sanctions, according to the U.S. statement. CENTCOM praised the operation as a boost to regional maritime security after months of Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping. Neither Tehran nor the Houthis immediately commented on the seizure, which the NRF says occurred in late June and was disclosed after verification of the cargo.
