The Major League Baseball home-run race tightened Tuesday at Yankee Stadium as New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge belted his 34th homer of the season, an opposite-field shot that moved him to within one of Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh at the time. Raleigh quickly restored his advantage with a two-run drive later in the game, giving him an MLB-best 36 long balls and putting the Mariners back up by two over Judge. Shohei Ohtani remains third with 30 homers. Judge, who has hit six home runs in his last nine games, is now tracking for a 60-homer campaign that would make him the first player since Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa to record multiple 60-homer seasons. Both Judge and Raleigh are also within striking distance of Barry Bonds’s pre-All-Star-break record of 39 homers in 81 games.

Cal Raleigh, Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani are all on pace to hit 50+ home runs 1998 (Griffey, McGwire, Sosa, G. Vaughn) and 2001 (Bonds, L. Gonzalez, A. Rodriguez, Sosa) are the only seasons in MLB history three or more players have hit 50+ homers https://t.co/DyjwCbeCIN
Big Dumper blast. Cal Raleigh hits a two-run homer. He's two up on Aaron Judge, 36 to 34. Yankees lead the Mariners, 10-3.
