The Boston Red Sox have finalized the signing of first baseman Nathaniel Lowe for the remainder of the 2025 season. Lowe, a former Gold Glove winner, Silver Slugger recipient, and World Series champion, was designated for assignment by the Washington Nationals earlier in the week. As part of the arrangement, the Nationals are covering the majority of Lowe's salary. Shortly after joining the Red Sox, Lowe made an immediate impact by hitting a game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth inning during a game against the Baltimore Orioles. Despite his late heroics, the Red Sox ultimately lost the game in extra innings.
