Logan Webb delivered seven scoreless innings of three-hit ball to guide the San Francisco Giants to a 7–1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays at Oracle Park on Sunday, snapping the Giants’ longest skid of the season. Webb struck out six and did not allow a runner past first base without the aid of an error, improving to 11 wins with a 3.19 ERA while leading the National League in innings pitched. The San Francisco lineup collected 11 hits, building an early cushion that included Gilbert’s first major-league home run. The offense provided more than enough support for Webb, who has now earned the decision in nine of the last 16 games that followed a Giants loss. Center fielder Jung Hoo Lee preserved the lead with a spectacular catch widely lauded as one of the best of the decade: juggling a sinking liner off his glove, thigh and calf before pinning the ball between his knees as he tumbled to the warning track. The play punctuated a much-needed all-around performance for San Francisco, which had dropped seven of its previous eight home games.
