Meanwhile, director Matt Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin have completed the script for "The Batman: Part II," which has been well received by Warner Bros. and DC Studios. Filming for the sequel is expected to begin in January 2026, with the movie slated for release in October 2027. Gunn also revealed that a previously greenlit DC project was canceled due to an unfinished screenplay, reflecting his policy that no superhero film under his oversight will proceed without a finished script. He criticized the broader movie industry for declining because films are often made without completed screenplays. Gunn attributed Marvel Studios' recent downturn to a corporate mandate from Disney to increase its film and TV output, which he said "wasn't fair," "wasn't right," and "killed them." Additionally, DC Studios is fast-tracking a new Wonder Woman movie following the success of Gunn's "Superman," for which Gunn was reportedly paid $15 million. The lead actors David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan each earned $750,000, while Nicholas Hoult, playing Lex Luthor, received $2 million. Gunn also mentioned a major secret project at DC Studios that has been kept under wraps to prevent other studios from copying it.
