DC Studios co-chair James Gunn said he has cancelled an unnamed DC Universe film that had already been green-lit because the script failed to meet his standards. “I couldn’t do a movie where the screenplay’s not good,” he told Rolling Stone in remarks published on 16 June. The project was described as fully approved and ready to move into production before Gunn halted it. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly and Deadline later in the week, Gunn added that he is developing what he calls his “favourite” DC project but is withholding details to prevent competing studios from copying the concept. The filmmaker offered no timetable or creative team for the secret title, which has not been included in DC’s previously announced ‘Gods and Monsters’ slate.
