Universal Pictures’ thriller “Weapons” is on course to dominate the North American box office, collecting an estimated $7.4 million on Friday and tracking toward a $24 million opening weekend, according to industry estimates. The film easily outpaced Disney’s comedy “Freakier Friday,” which earned about $4.5 million on the day and is expected to finish the frame near $13 million. Other new wide releases trailed the leaders. Universal’s “Nobody 2” generated $3.86 million on Friday, including Thursday previews, setting up a projected $9.5 million weekend. Disney/Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four” took in approximately $2.4 million and is heading for an $8.5 million three-day haul. DreamWorks Animation’s “The Bad Guys 2” added $1.94 million, lifting its domestic total to $51.66 million and putting it on course for roughly $7.5 million through Sunday. Among holdovers, Universal’s “Jurassic World Rebirth” grossed about $770,000, bringing its domestic cumulative take to $329.99 million, while Paramount’s reboot of “The Naked Gun” earned $1.38 million for a $38.56 million total. Separately, Warner Bros. and Apple’s racing drama “F1 The Movie” continues to rack up overseas receipts. The picture has amassed $399.4 million internationally and $180.83 million in North America, pushing its global tally to $579.6 million through Thursday.
