Warner Bros.’ thriller “Weapons” led the North American box office with an estimated $25 million from 3,450 cinemas during the Aug. 16–18 weekend, lifting its domestic haul to about $89 million. The film added $12.1 million overseas on Friday, bringing its worldwide total to roughly $120 million. Disney’s “Freakier Friday,” in its second weekend, placed second with $14.5 million and has earned $54.8 million domestically and $86.3 million globally. Universal’s action sequel “Nobody 2” debuted in third with $9.25 million from 3,260 locations. Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” collected $8.8 million in its fourth frame, down 44%, for a $247 million domestic tally. Weekend international receipts of $9.3 million pushed its global total to $468.7 million, clearing the $450 million mark on a $200 million budget. Rounding out the top five, Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s “The Bad Guys 2” earned $7.5 million, off 29% week-on-week, for $57.2 million domestic, while Paramount’s “The Naked Gun” added $4.8 million for $42 million to date. Universal’s “Jurassic World Rebirth” took in $2.9 million, pushing its domestic sum past $332 million.
