‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Return to Slay the ARIA Albums Chart Once Again https://t.co/aFg5R1rZoC
The soundtrack to the Netflix animated film “KPop Demon Hunters” regained the top position on the United Kingdom’s Official Compilations Chart for an eighth week and set a new record for the most weekly streams by any soundtrack. The album logged 18,631 streaming-equivalent sales in the week of Aug. 14–20, surpassing the 17,681 mark set by 2023’s “Barbie.” Lead single “Golden,” performed by the fictional girl group HUNTR/X, also returned to No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart. It becomes the first K-pop song to spend more than one week at the summit, underscoring the soundtrack’s broad international traction. In Australia, the collection climbed back to No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, marking its fifth non-consecutive week in the top spot and extending its run as the longest-serving No. 1 soundtrack from an animated film since “Trolls” in 2017. The project continues to dominate digital platforms, holding the No. 1 position on the worldwide iTunes and Apple Music album rankings for 16 consecutive days through Aug. 16 and maintaining leadership on U.S. and European store charts despite a wave of new releases.
