Texas Governor Greg Abbott is returning to Kerrville to deliver a 9:00 p.m. Central Time press conference on Friday, July 4, after severe flooding swept through the Hill Country region. The briefing will be held at the Hill Country Youth Event Center and will include officials from the Texas Division of Emergency Management and the Department of Public Safety. Abbott, who cut short an out-of-state trip to address the crisis, is expected to outline the state’s response and available resources for communities hit by what aides described as “catastrophic” flooding. Local authorities have not yet released casualty or damage estimates, but emergency teams have been mobilised across the area.
