A flash flood emergency was declared for Davenport, Iowa, and surrounding Quad Cities areas including Le Claire, Hampton, Blue Grass, and Silvis, affecting approximately 232,380 residents and 66 schools. The National Weather Service issued the emergency due to severe storms that brought between 3 to 6 inches of rain within 24 hours, with Davenport alone receiving over 4 inches. The heavy rainfall caused major flooding, with multiple buildings experiencing water intrusion and vehicles stranded. Authorities urged residents to seek higher ground immediately. Following the flooding, the city of Davenport assessed storm damage, and the governor signed a disaster proclamation to address the situation. Recovery efforts are underway in the region, including a street expansion project on 53rd Avenue in Bettendorf and restoration work at Longview Park in Rock Island, where the lagoon has been put back into service.
