Multiple severe thunderstorm warnings were issued across several counties in South Dakota on Monday, July 7, 2025. A tornado warning was issued for southern Yankton County, including the city of Yankton, Mission Hill, and Utica, lasting until 6:45 pm CDT. Radar indicated rotation within the storm near Highway 81, and residents were advised to seek shelter immediately. The tornado warning was later allowed to expire, but a severe thunderstorm warning remained in effect for southern Yankton County until 7:30 pm CDT, with potential 70 mph gusts and half-dollar sized hail. The warnings impacted approximately 21,500 people and included six schools in the affected areas.
