And now confirmation from @Pacers that he will not play next season 😥 https://t.co/OYxavQi6nG
The Indiana Pacers said on 7 July that guard Tyrese Haliburton will miss the entire 2025–26 NBA season as he rehabs from surgery to repair a torn right Achilles tendon. Haliburton, 25, suffered the injury in the first quarter of the Pacers’ 103–91 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. He underwent surgery on 23 June and has begun a year-long rehabilitation program. Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard told local broadcaster WISH-TV the club will not “jeopardize” the franchise cornerstone’s long-term health, adding that the organization expects him to return “stronger than ever” but will not play next season. Haliburton averaged 18.6 points, 9.2 assists and 1.4 steals during the 2024–25 campaign, earning his second consecutive All-NBA Third Team nod and helping Indiana reach its first Finals in 25 years. With their All-Star sidelined, the Pacers are expected to lean on Andrew Nembhard and T.J. McConnell at point guard next season.
