The Mavericks were hopeful that Lively would not require offseason surgery after being limited to 36 games by the injury last season but the expectation is that the 21-year-old will be available for the start of Dallas’ training camp in late September. https://t.co/WOlEwYi41U
Dallas Mavericks center-forward Anthony Davis underwent surgery on 8 July to repair a detached retina sustained during the 2024-25 season, according to multiple reports. The 10-time All-Star played through several blows to the face before the condition was diagnosed. Team and league sources said Davis is projected to be fully cleared when training camp opens in late September. A week later, 21-year-old center Dereck Lively II had a procedure to remove bone spurs from his right foot after the injury limited him to 36 games last season. Lively has since shed his protective boot and is likewise expected to take part in training camp. The two offseason operations mean all three of Dallas’s front-line starters—Davis, Lively and guard Kyrie Irving, who continues to rehabilitate a knee problem—are in various stages of recovery, but the club anticipates having each player available for the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
