The Philadelphia 76ers said Monday that forward Paul George underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his left knee to repair damage from an injury suffered during an offseason workout. The operation was performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow at NYU Langone Sports Medicine in New York. George, 35, has begun rehabilitation and will be re-evaluated ahead of training camp, which opens in September. The nine-time All-Star struggled with injuries throughout his first season in Philadelphia, appearing in 41 games and averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists after signing a four-year, $211 million contract last July. The 76ers finished 24-58 as George, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey all missed extended stretches. President of basketball operations Daryl Morey has said the club’s title hopes for 2025-26 hinge on the health of its core. Embiid is also rehabbing following April knee surgery, while training-camp availability for George remains uncertain. Philadelphia plays two preseason games against the New York Knicks in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 2 and Oct. 4, giving the team a narrow window to regain fitness before the regular season.
