Georgia Institute of Technology said it will appoint Ryan Alpert, currently senior deputy athletics director and chief revenue officer at the University of Tennessee, as the Yellow Jackets’ next athletic director. Alpert has agreed to a five-year contract that is subject to approval by the school’s board of trustees, according to people familiar with the decision. Alpert would become Georgia Tech’s 11th full-time athletic director and succeed J Batt, who departed for Michigan State earlier this year. He is expected to be formally introduced at a press conference next week. Institute president Ángel Cabrera called Alpert “a dynamic, forward-thinking leader who understands what it takes to build a winning culture on a strong financial foundation.” Alpert, 38, has led fundraising and revenue initiatives at Tennessee since 2021 and previously held administrative roles at Missouri, Florida Atlantic and Memphis.
