The municipality of Coevorden has decided not to proceed with housing 14 minor female refugees in the Tuindorp neighborhood following violent protests and unrest from local residents. The decision came amid concerns about safety and the inability to provide a secure home for the refugees. Meanwhile, in Enschede, plans to accommodate asylum-seeking children were also halted due to doubts about the care provider. The displaced refugee girls who were to be housed in Coevorden remain on a waiting list. In Zwolle, protests against the establishment of a new asylum seeker center (AZC) for 400 individuals took place, with PVV leader Geert Wilders attending and supporting the opposition. Despite the protests, the Zwolle city council voted in favor of the AZC, with parties including VVD, PvdA, GroenLinks, CDA, D66, SP, ChristenUnie, Partij voor de Dieren, and Volt approving the plan. Unlike Coevorden, the protests in Zwolle remained peaceful.
