Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams impressed in his first NFL preseason appearance Sunday night, engineering a 93-yard opening drive against the Buffalo Bills at Soldier Field. Working in new head coach Ben Johnson’s offense, Williams completed 5 of 6 attempts for 97 yards, capping the march with a 36-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus. The former Heisman Trophy winner also connected with tight end Cole Kmet for a key gain and finished the series with a perfect 158.3 passer rating while topping a 70% completion rate. The crisp debut offered Chicago an early look at the chemistry between its top draft pick and a retooled receiving corps as the Bears evaluate their revamped attack during the preseason schedule.
