The Buffalo Bills have reached a four-year, $48 million contract extension with running back James Cook, including $30 million guaranteed, according to multiple reports confirmed by ESPN and the Associated Press. The agreement ends the 25-year-old’s brief training-camp “hold-in” and locks him in at an average annual value of $12 million. Cook’s $30 million in guarantees is the largest for an NFL running back in the past five years and places him sixth at the position by average annual pay, per salary-tracking site OverTheCap. The Georgia product is coming off a career-best 2024 season in which he scored 16 rushing touchdowns, tied for the league lead, and produced 1,267 yards from scrimmage. The extension continues Buffalo’s off-season strategy of securing core players after new deals for quarterback Josh Allen and other starters. Cook, selected in the second round of the 2022 draft, has amassed 2,638 rushing yards and 27 total touchdowns in 49 career games.
The Bills have signed running back James Cook to a 4-year, $48M contract extension, putting him short of the $15M per year he posted on social media that he wanted.
