The Washington Commanders will retire Hall of Fame wide receiver Art Monk’s No. 81 jersey on Nov. 2, when the team hosts the Seattle Seahawks in a Week 9 Sunday night game. Monk becomes only the sixth player in the franchise’s 93-year history to receive the honor, joining Darrell Green, Sammy Baugh, Bobby Mitchell, Sonny Jurgensen and Sean Taylor. Drafted 18th overall out of Syracuse in 1980, Monk spent 14 of his 16 NFL seasons in Washington. He helped the club win three Super Bowls and left as its career leader in receiving yards. Over 224 regular-season games he recorded 888 catches for 12,026 yards and 65 touchdowns, adding 1,062 yards and seven scores in the playoffs. Monk was a three-time Pro Bowler, a 1982 All-Pro and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
