The Washington Commanders have reached agreement on a one-year contract with veteran edge rusher Von Miller, according to multiple league sources and the player’s own social-media announcement. The sides are still finalising terms, but the 36-year-old is expected to report when veterans arrive at training camp next week. Miller owns 129.5 career sacks—16th on the NFL’s all-time list and the highest total among active players—and has been selected to eight Pro Bowls. He was the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl 50 with Denver and collected a second championship ring with the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 season. Buffalo released him in March in a move that cleared roughly $8.4 million in salary-cap space after injuries limited him to 14 total sacks over three seasons, including six in 2024. Washington, which reached last season’s NFC title game but finished only 26th in four-man pass-rush sacks, has spent the offseason upgrading its roster under General Manager Adam Peters. Adding Miller reunites Peters with the player he helped draft for the Broncos in 2011 and gives head coach Dan Quinn an experienced closer to pair with fellow veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner as the club aims to take the final step to the Super Bowl.
