Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones escalated his contract standoff with All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons, telling Michael Irvin’s YouTube show and ESPN’s “Get Up” that Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, “told us to stick our contract up our ass” after a March meeting in which Jones believes he and Parsons agreed on term, amount and guarantees. Jones said the proposal would have made the 26-year-old the NFL’s highest-paid non-quarterback in guaranteed money. Rebuffing the agent’s involvement, he insisted “there’s no room for a third” at the bargaining table and dismissed speculation that Dallas might trade the former No. 12 overall pick, noting the club can use franchise tags to control his rights through 2027. Parsons requested a trade on Aug. 1, has removed Cowboys references from his social-media profiles and did not practice during training camp, prompting talk of a possible holdout. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer, however, said he still expects the edge rusher—due $24 million this season under his fifth-year option—to be in uniform when the Cowboys open at Philadelphia on Sept. 7.
