The Dallas Cowboys have traded three-time All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, according to multiple reports from ESPN and NFL Network. Green Bay is sending defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round draft picks to Dallas. Parsons, 26, has already agreed to a four-year, $188 million extension that includes roughly $120 million fully guaranteed and $136 million in total guarantees, making the $47 million-per-year deal the richest ever for a non-quarterback. The deal ends a months-long standoff between Parsons and Cowboys owner-general manager Jerry Jones. Dallas had cleared Parsons medically from a back issue but he remained a training-camp hold-in after filing a salary grievance and requesting a trade on Aug. 1. Jones believed he had negotiated a five-year, $202.5 million pact with the player while bypassing his agent, David Mulugheta, but no formal offer followed and tensions escalated. Earlier Thursday the Cowboys signaled for the first time that they would entertain calls; talks accelerated and concluded hours later, barely a week before Dallas opens the season. For Green Bay, Parsons provides an immediate pass-rushing cornerstone to pair with Rashan Gary and bolsters a defense that lacked a double-digit sack producer last season. Dallas gains cap flexibility and draft capital reminiscent of its Herschel Walker haul in 1989, though it leaves a major void on the edge. The two clubs will meet in Dallas on Sunday Night Football in Week 4, giving Parsons a swift return to AT&T Stadium.
When I die and get to ask Paul any question in heaven, I'm going to ask what in the world Jerry Jones was thinking in 2025 when he didn't trade Micah Parsons back in March or April but instead in August, right before the season kicks off. https://t.co/9UnjxmpXyJ
"You can report all you want. There's no way they're allowing Micah Parsons to go anywhere... I can guarantee- Micah Parsons isn't going anywhere. [Jerry Jones] is not that crazy." - Michael Irvin earlier today on ESPN. 🏈 #NFL https://t.co/gxee6n5Yyp https://t.co/GhENi032zR
