The Green Bay Packers have acquired three-time All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys in a deal completed on Aug. 28, less than a week before the NFL season begins. Green Bay is sending Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark and the Cowboys’ 2026 and 2027 first-round draft selections in exchange for the 26-year-old pass-rusher, according to multiple league sources and a statement from the Cowboys. Immediately after the trade, Parsons agreed to a four-year, $188 million extension with the Packers that includes $136 million guaranteed, an average of $47 million per season. The agreement makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history who does not play quarterback. The move ends a protracted contract dispute in Dallas. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had said he believed he and Parsons had reached a five-year, $202.5 million verbal agreement in March, but talks stalled once the player’s agent became involved, leading Parsons to request a trade on Aug. 1. Parsons brings 52.5 career sacks to a Green Bay defense that finished eighth in sacks last season. Sports-book operator BetMGM cut the Packers’ Super Bowl odds to 13-1 from 22-1 after the deal, while Dallas lengthened to 60-1. The two teams will meet in Week 4 on Sept. 28 at AT&T Stadium, setting up an early reunion between Parsons and his former club.
