Pop superstar Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce announced their engagement on Tuesday, publishing five photos of a flower-filled proposal in a joint Instagram post dated Aug. 26. One image shows Kelce kneeling before Swift while another gives a clear view of the diamond ring. The post’s caption—“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨”—quickly went viral, drawing more than 7 million likes within the first hour. ABC News confirmed the ring is an old-mine brilliant-cut diamond set in a gold band, designed by Kindred Lubeck of New York-based Artifex Fine Jewelry. Swift and Kelce, both 35, have been together for about two years, first going public when the singer attended a Chiefs game in September 2023. Since then Swift has become a fixture at NFL broadcasts, while Kelce made a surprise on-stage appearance during her Eras Tour stop at London’s Wembley Stadium in June 2024. The engagement crowns a period of heightened visibility for the couple. Swift, whose Eras Tour helped push her fortune past the $1 billion mark, plans to release her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on Oct. 3. Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champion, recently signed a two-year, $34 million contract extension and a reported $105 million podcast deal. The pair have not disclosed wedding plans.
