Nigeria’s opposition Peoples Democratic Party has postponed its elective national convention from August to 15–16 November 2025 and shifted the venue from Kano in the northwest to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, party officials said after the NEC’s 101st meeting in Abuja. National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba told reporters the convention will elect a new four-year National Working Committee and that NEC has approved both the convention and zoning committees to oversee a transparent process. Party leaders hope the additional time will help resolve internal disputes and stem recent defections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
