Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on August 2, 2025, for a two-day state visit, marking his first visit since taking office. The visit aims to enhance bilateral relations, with discussions focusing on increasing trade volume between the two countries to 10 billion US dollars. Ahead of the visit, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held talks to discuss the agenda and bilateral matters. Additionally, there was a telephonic conversation between the foreign ministers of Pakistan and Iran regarding the visit.
